Biography
Brian O’Kelly graduated as a civil engineer and worked on various engineering projects in Ireland and Saudi Arabia in the early years of his career. Following completion of an MBA and an M.Sc. in Investment and Treasury, he worked in oil price risk management for ESB. He became a full-time lecturer in finance in Dublin City University for a number of years before returning to work at AIB Capital Markets, Permanent TSB, QED Equity and Wells Fargo Bank International.
Brian has worked in risk management, ALM, corporate lending and structured finance. He is Adjunct Professor of Finance in Dublin City University where he is director of its M.Sc. in Investment, Treasury and Banking programme. He has held visiting professor positions in Finland, China, Pakistan and Canada. His PhD thesis focused on the valuation of collateralised debt obligations.
Brian teaches derivatives, fixed income, market risk, financial engineering, banking and asset-liability management modules at master’s level and delivers risk management courses to banking executives. He researches in the areas of banking and regulation.
