This new research will lead to Ireland’s first barometer and confidence index relating to the freelance sector. It will assess the extent and nature of professional contracting in Ireland’s labour market, as the country’s growing contingent workforce and project-based economy emerges. We are interested in hearing the views of Independent Professionals, Contractors and Freelancers as well as Recruiters who source these workers and employees of businesses who hire freelance independent professionals/contractors. Our survey takes approximately 15 minutes to complete.
This research project is being carried out by Trinity Business School with support from Contracting PLUS. Our purpose is to investigate the highly important but largely overlooked freelance – independent professional – contractor – solo self-employed segment of the labour market. This will enable us to improve our understanding of its contribution to business and society as well as to better inform this type of worker about best practices, opportunities, threats and relative performance in their own sector. The annual report of the survey results is intended for workers, businesses government, education and the wider research community.
The final report will only publish aggregate data. Individual level data will not be published and will be kept confidential by Trinity College, Dublin. It will not be shared with any third parties. At the end of the survey, there is an option for respondents to include their email address (which will kept confidential by Trinity College Dublin and not shared with third parties) so that we can:
· Send participants a free copy of the completed report.
· Invite them to the official launch of the report.
· Enter a draw to win €500 for a charity of their choice.
· Invite them to participate in our follow-up survey.
