Professor Vincent Wade, Director of Adapt, Trinity College Dublin
Professor Vincent Wade is Director of the ADAPT Centre for Digital Media Technology and Professorial Chair of Computer Science (Est. 1990) in School of Computer Science and Statistics, Trinity College Dublin. Vincent also holds a professorship in Artificial Intelligence. His research focuses on intelligent systems, AI and Personalisation. As Director of ADAPT, Vincent heads a world leading research Centre uniquely focused on next generation AI driven digital media technology, which pioneers research in media analytics, advanced machine learning, machine translation, media personalization, speech & multi-modal interaction and ethics & privacy in media. In 2018 Vincent was awarded the Provost Award for Innovation, the University's highest accolade for his outstanding contribution to innovation throughout his career. In 2002, he was awarded Fellowship of Trinity College for his contribution to research and has published over three hundred scientific papers in international journals and conferences.
Other awards won by Professor Wade include the European Language Label Award for innovation in Language Learning Technology (2010). Vincent is also the co-founder of a successful TCD spin-out company EmpowerTheUser which specializes in video based simulation based platform technology and immersive learning analytics. In 2010 Vincent founded the Learnovate Centre which is a industry-academic led centre focusing on technology enhanced learning across learning in K12, corporate learning and adult education. He also holds multiple patents and invention disclosures in the area or personalisation and digital content technologies.
