Kieran Higgins – Supporting Excellence in Trinity Mathematics

Kieran Higgins, B.A. Mathematics (1995) is a supporter of the Hamilton Scholars programme in the School of Mathematics, which aims to attract and support the best Irish and international students to pursue the study of scientific and technological problems by mathematical methods and to undertake research in various branches of the subject. Since its launch in 2014, three Hamilton Scholarships have been awarded.

Mathematics is the language of science, engineering and technology. As a society we need graduates who are mathematically literate and able to solve problems and innovate in unexpected ways. This is precisely the training a PhD in mathematics brings. Mathematics has always been an area of strength at Trinity and has been home to some of Ireland’s finest mathematical minds, foremost among them William Rowan Hamilton.

“Twenty-one years after leaving the Trinity School of Mathematics, I still continually use the skills and training I received during my time there in my current role; so I am pleased to be able to contribute to help in it's continued growth and development"

Kieran Higgins joined the Royal Bank of Scotland Group in 2013 where he is Head of Trading. Previously, Kieran served as Co-Head of Fixed Income for EMEA at Nomura International and before that he held a number of positions in Lehman Brothers.
