New Minor Subject Eligibility - Student Guide - Opening 24th May 2022
Choices available to Single Honors Senior Fresh students
Single Honors Senior Fresh students must
choose between 20 credits in a new minor subject OR 20 credits of a combination of Trinity Electives and Open Modules. This choice is made by at the end of their Junior Fresh year.
The choices and pathways that are available to single honors students can be viewed on the Your Trinity Pathways website.
For a small number of minor subjects there are pre-requisites and not all students will be eligible to take up all subjects as a minor.
For the following four schools there are pre-requisites.
- School of Languages, Literatures and Cultural Studies
- School of Creative Arts (Drama & Music only)
- School of History and Humanities (Classical Languages)
- School of Social Sciences and Philosophy (Economics only)
Generally a students eligibility to take up a new minor subject in SF year will be based on their Leaving Certificate (or equivalent) results.
Students should log into my.tcd.ie and view which subjects they are eligible to take under the "My Programme" tab.

Requesting an academic assessment
If a student is marked as ineligible to take a new Minor Subject and they have competencies in this subject and want to take it up as a new minor subject.
They can request an academic assessment from the school offering the new minor subject.
