Update from College Secretary and Director, College Health Service

7 May 2021

Dear students and colleagues

Last Friday, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris T.D. announced that in June he will publish a plan for an enhanced campus experience for third level students for the next academic year starting in September. It will include a significant increase in on-site activity. This is a positive development and a working group with higher education institution representatives is meeting weekly to develop this plan for reopening.

Trinity Sports getting back on track

From next Monday 10 May, with the easing of Government restrictions, the following sporting activities can take place:

  • Main campus - College Park pitches, the running track (College Park) and the fitness trail can open for individuals and adult training in pods of a maximum of 15 people, along with the tennis courts at Botany Bay. This use is restricted to staff and students only for the moment.
  • Islandbridge - rowing at Islandbridge is permitted to return as approved by Rowing Ireland. This will include the student rowing clubs.
  • Santry Sports Grounds and Iveagh Sports Grounds - Adult training in pods of a maximum of 15 people can resume. These groups will most likely include student clubs and some external groups who are regular users.

Trinity Sport continues to provide online supports for the wider College community including free online workouts via its social media channels, access to over 30 live online fitness classes via Trinity Sport+ and 2k, 3k, 5k and 10k walking and running guides around the main campus and Trinity Halls. Please see here for more information.
