Given the rapid degradation rate of most natural systems and the increasing pressure on biodiversity, there is an urgent need to gain critical knowledge that allows for the effective conservation and management of ecosystems and species. In this context, there are three overarching scientific questions that drive my research: 

· Which anthropogenic pressures affect biodiversity and to what extent? 

· Is the distribution range of a given species impaired by anthropogenic pressures? 

· Which management measures have the highest potential for the effective conservation of a given species?

My focus is on aquatic ecosystems and take into account in-stream, as well as by basin-wide disturbances. Through the application of models, I intend to better understand the interactions between streams and landscapes, as well as to evaluate catchment processes in different land use and climatic scenarios. I aim to deliver valuable information for biodiversity conservation and landscape management.
