Former British & Irish Lions and Irish International Rugby player Hugo MacNeill was today announced as a brand ambassador for Trinity Sport to recognise his achievements with Ireland, Leinster, the French Barbarians and the British and Irish Lions. Hugo MacNeill will join fellow Trinity Alumni on the Trinity Sport ambassador programme including Nicole Owens (Dublin Ladies GAA player), Mark Pollock (motivational speaker and adventurer), Ailish Egan (former Irish Rugby international), Ed Joyce (Head coach of Ireland’s women’s cricket team).
Speaking at the brand ambassador launch, Michelle Tanner, Head of Sport and Recreation at Trinity Sport said, “We are delighted to welcome Hugo MacNeill to the Trinity Sport brand ambassador programme to recognise his achievement in rugby and also his contribution to the ‘Peace International’ which promoted the positivity of a community living together in peace and pointed to the futility of violence at a critical time in Irish history. Hugo has also become a strong advocate for diversity and inclusion as he is also an ambassador for Trinity Centre for People with Intellectual Disabilities. Trinity Sport would like to recognise Hugo’s achievements and provide the opportunity for students and the institution to learn and collaborate on sport for the future.”
Hugo MacNeill commented, “I have many great memories from my time at Trinity College Dublin, especially from my Trinity Rugby playing days where I made lifelong friends from all backgrounds. It is a huge honour to be asked to be involved in the Trinity Sport ambassador programme. Being involved in rugby during my time in Trinity is what taught me how to win and lose, how to build resilience and how to be part of a team. I believe these skills not only matter in sport but can be applied in business and life in general."
Hugo Mac Neill will join fellow Trinity Alumni including Nicole Owens, Mark Pollock, Ailish Egan and Ed Joyce on the Trinity Sport ambassador programme for 2019 / 2020.
