Countdown to rowing Colours begins with coin toss
Published: 8th March 2018
This year’s Rowing Colours takes place on the Liffey on Sunday March 18th. Part of the build-up to the annual event is the coin toss to decide which side of the river each team races on.
This year’s coin toss was performed by Newstalk broadcaster Pat Kenny on the steps of the Dining Hall, with the men’s and women’s captains from both Trinity and UCD present.
In the end UCD won both tosses, with both captains opting for the north side of the river come race day.
Colours comprises four races: Gannon Cup (men’s senior 8), Corcoran Cup (women’s senior 8), Dan Quinn Shield (men’s novice) and the Sally Moorhead Trophy (women’s novice).
The race route begins at O’Connell Bridge and culminates at Heuston Station, beginning around 10.30am on Sunday March 18th.
