Be Activated
What is Be Activated?
Developed by South African Physio Therapist Douglas Heel, Be Activated uses a system of reflexes throughout the body that can turn previously weak muscles on.
How does it work?
Once muscles are ‘switched on’, they can function at their maximum potential in strength, power, endurance, and flexibility.
This technique releases tight structures throughout the body that cause pain and dysfunction. Once released, most people experience decreased pain and tension, and increased strength and flexibility.
Muscle Activation jump-starts the body into correct form, automatically. It interrupts poor patterns and rewires the template your brain uses.
Clients can achieve massive shifts in strength, power, flexibility, endurance, speed, co-ordination and balance by incorporating the Be Activated system into their training.
Who is it for?
The treatment is for anyone who has pain or dysfunctional movement due to stress, poor nutrition of from their environment. Be Activated is used globally by elite sports teams, celebrities, the fitness industry and health practitioners alike. As well as treating injuries and enhancing sporting performance, it’s a powerful tool for stress management, and can quickly break common patterns of movement dysfunction and chronic pain.
What happens on my first session?
The Be Activated system starts by testing what your body is doing now, so that changes can be clearly measured. This is done by simple muscle resistance, strength and flexibility tests.
The next step is to activate the body to breathe correctly (nearly everyone breathes incorrectly)
We then run through the body’s sequencing patterns, testing and activating, so muscles and structures can return to their correct right patterns – they start doing their own job, rather than someone else’s.
How long does activation last?
Everyone responds differently, some people have immediate and long lasting results. For others, it can take time to learn new patterns of movement so the muscles may need reminding. As part of the Be Activated system you are taught a simple system of self-activation to empower you to look after your own wellbeing.
Ki Acupressure
What is Ki Acupressure?
Ki Acupressure is a dynamic system of acupressure developed by Korean Buddhist Monk Cheong Wol. E.P.H. combines acupressure with techniques found in Shiatsu and Hwal Bup to correct and balance the body at a physical and energetic level.
How does it work?
Acupressure is an ancient healing art using the thumbs to gradually press key healing points, which stimulate the body's natural self-curative abilities. Acupuncture & Acupressure use the same pressure points and meridians, but Acupuncture employs needles, while Acupressure uses gentle to firm finger/thumb pressure.
The goal of the treatment is to unblock the meridians and re-establish the flow of Ki (chi) throughout the body. Stress, poor diet and lack of exercise can block the meridian system which can manifest itself as pain and stress in the physical body.
Who is it for ?
The treatment is for everyone and can be used to treat a range of conditions. It is particularly effective at treating stress related problems in the musculoskeletal system especially head, neck, back and hips.
Back Care Acupressure Therapy is highly effective for relieving muscular tension in all areas of the back. Important points are located along either side of the spine and on the upper back.
Acupressure for relieving back pain can also be an effective adjunct to chiropractic treatment. By relaxing and toning the back muscles, Acupressure makes the spinal adjustments easier and more effective, and the chiropractic results last longer. In fact, Acupressure and chiropractic treatments were originally practiced together in ancient China.

The Treatment
During an acupressure session, you lie fully clothed on a soft massage table. The treatment involves manual manipulation of the muscle, gentle stretching techniques and manipulation of acupressure points in the body. This helps to bring energy flow in the body back to harmony and helps correct any imbalances the client may present with.
A session typically lasts about one hour. You may need several sessions for the best results.
