Joanna Rzepa Thomas Brown Assistant Lecturer

 

Joanna Rzepa is a graduate of the University of Warwick (PhD in English and Comparative Literature) and the Jagiellonian University in Poland (double MA in Polish Studies and English and Translation Studies). Her doctoral degree was funded by the Chancellor’s Scholarship. She worked as a lecturer and teaching assistant at the University of Warwick and the Polish University in London (PUNO), and as a Polish language tutor at the UCL School of Slavonic and East European Studies and the Jagiellonian University Summer School of Polish Language and Culture. She was an Early Career Fellow at the Institute of Advanced Study, University of Warwick, in 2015-2016, and an Irish Research Council Postdoctoral Fellow at the Trinity Long Room Hub in 2016-2017.

Her research and teaching interests include twentieth-century literature and culture, comparative literature, translation studies, and cultural memory. Her current research project, “The Holocaust and the Politics of Translation”, examines how the cultural and political contexts shaped the translations, dissemination and international reception of Polish Holocaust writing.
