Department of Political Science PhD student David Moore was awarded a TRiSS Postgraduate Research Fellowship for his project entitled: Explaining the Variation in Individuals' Conspiratorial Beliefs.

Political Science Department co-hosts webinar - COVID-19 and Challenges to Democracy - with TRiSS
As part of the weekly "COVID-19 and a Changing Society" series Trinity Political Scientists Dr Gizem Arikan, Dr Constantine Boussalis and Dr Roman Gabriel Olar along with Prof Zoltan Fezakas of Copenhagen Business School will discuss the political implications of the pandemic. 3pm - June 15, 2020.

Funding Secured for Chair Professor in Political Economy to Improve Gender Balance
The Departments of Economics and Political Science have been successful in obtaining funding for a Chair in Political Economy, one of the 20 women-only* professorship roles approved by the State early this month as part of the Senior Academic Leadership Initiative (SALI).

Peter Stone and Adina Preda have been elected officers of the Political Studies Association of Ireland
Peter Stone, Associate Professor in Political Science, has been elected President of the Political Studies Association of Ireland (PSAI), having previously served as secretary for the last 3 years. Adina Preda, Associate Professor in Philosophy, has been elected Secretary.

New Departmental Seminar Series
In addition to the Friday Seminar Series, the Department has recently established the Monday Interdisciplinary Seminar Series, taking place on Monday lunchtimes at the TRiSS Seminar Room. Speakers this term include Dr Roman Birke, Dr Phil Clark, Dr Seamus Coffey, Prof. Liam Delaney, Dr Orla Doyle, Mr Ruadhan MacCormaic, Prof. Duncan McDonnell, and Dr Theresa Reidy. Topics in the series will be of interest to those in a variety of Departments (History, Philosophy, Law, Business, Sociology and Economics as well as the Political Science Department) e.g. human rights and population control, the International Criminal Court, behavioural science, Irish fiscal policy, populism and the radical right.

Department welcomes new Assistant Professor, Dino Hadzic
Dr Hadzic joins Trinity from Washington University in St. Louis. His research primarily focuses on the consequences of violent conflict and on ethnic politics and identity.

Department welcomes new Assistant Professor, Alex Held
Dr Held joins Trinity from the University of British Columbia (PhD) and Yale University (Fox Fellow). His research on political participation and voting behaviour in advanced industrialized democracies predominantly uses econometric methods for causal inference and survey experimentation.

Department welcomes new Assistant Professor, Noah Buckley
Dr Buckley joins Trinity from New York University Abu Dhabi, where he was a postdoctoral researcher. His research touches on corruption, authoritarian politics, political elites, and the politics of Russia and the post-Soviet space.
