Dr Parikshit Sawdekar is a Postdoctoral Research fellow in CRANN/school of Physics, Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. Since October 2014 he is working with Dr Ramesh Babu’s research group on different industrial projects.
Parikshit completed MSc in Biotechnology in University of Mumbai in 2009. He was awarded for prominent CSIR-NET fellowship for PhD in 2009. After working as an industrial researcher in DBT- ICT Centre for Energy Biosciences, he successfully completed a PhD in the Institute of Chemical Technology, Mumbai, India under the supervision of Prof. Arvind Lali (2009-2014) in the field of Biotechnology.
The main focus of the PhD research was designing the processes for fermentative production of biochemicals and downstream method for products recovery. His work also focused on bioenergy production from renewable natural resources by strain development. After his PhD, Parikshit Sawdekar moved to Trinity College Dublin, Ireland for his first postdoctoral research career. He is working on projects involved in converting a dairy waste by-products to value added biochemicals like lactic acid. He is also working on optimization and scaling operation of pre-treatment process of Lactose for Lactic acid production and purification of L- and D-Lactic lactic from fermentation broth.
