Oisín studied experimental physics in TCD, graduating in 2017.
He joined the APRG group in September 2017 as a Ph.D. student and is funded by the Naughton Ph.D. Fellowship. His work is centred around fabricating Vanadium Dioxide thin film devices, with an aim to realise non-conventional computing systems, in collaboration with Wolfgang Porod’s group at the University of Notre Dame.
Oisín has also taken part in the primary school physics outreach programme “Quavers to Quadratics” in collaboration with the Irish National Concert Hall. He is also a regularly performing saxophonist in Dublin.
Specialities include ultra-high vacuum equipment; x-ray diffraction and reflectivity; oxide molecular beam epitaxy; ultraviolet photolithography; pulsed laser deposition; electrical characterisation; and circuit prototyping.
