Name: Peter Callaghan
Peter joined the APRG as a PhD student in September 2020, after receiving an undergraduate degree (First Class Honours) in Nanoscience from TCD in May of the same year
Peter is a student in the Centre of Doctoral Training in the Advanced Characterisation of Materials (CDT ACM). The focus of his research is on the use of ultrathin oxides to control material properties. This work will be based on multilayer Transparent Conducting Oxide (TCO) materials, examining how macroscopic properties such as conductivity and refractive index can be altered with multilayer TCO structures.
This research relies heavily on Transmission Electron Microscopy (TEM), and X-ray Photoemission Spectroscopy (XPS) to identify and characterise the nature of the interfaces in these complex multilayer structures.
