Philosophy of Science
The philosophy of science is devoted to the investigation of various philosophical issues relating to the scientific study of nature, e.g.: What is a law of nature? What distinguishes science from other ways of acquiring knowledge about the world? What kinds of considerations do scientists rely on when choosing between rival theories? Do scientific theories map onto an objective, mind-independent reality, or are they merely tools for making reliable predictions about the future course of experience?
