Past International Writer Fellows

The tradition of creative writing associated with Oscar Wilde's birthplace at 21 Westland Row has not been upheld solely by the Irish authors and scholars who work there today and have worked there in the past. The Writer Fellowship, co-sponsored by the School of English Trinity College Dublin and the Arts Council of Ireland, has given student writers the opportunity to receive expert criticism, encouragement and guidance from experienced practitioners in the field since 1986, but from 2000 to 2006, in association with the British Council in Ireland, an International Writer Fellow post for the Michaelmas Term (October-December), was hosted by the School of English at the Oscar Wilde Centre.
