Biography

Gemma O’Farrell is an Adjunct Assistant Professor in the School of Law, where she teaches EU Trade Mark and Design Law on the LL.M programme. She graduated from Trinity College Dublin with a LL.B in 2006, and obtained an LL.M in Intellectual Property at the University of London in 2007. She graduated from the Honorable Society of the King’s Inns in 2009 and was called to the bar where she practiced for five years. She holds a PhD from Trinity College on Trade Marks and Unfair Competition Law. Her research areas are primarily in intellectual property and privacy law. In addition to her academic work, Gemma practices as legal counsel for an international telecoms company.

Research

Gemma previously acted as a Research Assistant to the Copyright Review Group which examined proposed changes to the Copyright and Related Rights Act 2000. Gemma acted as a researcher for the Bar Council of Ireland in relation to the Legal Services Regulation Bill.
