Return to lab work

June 2020

Over 100 days on from the beginning of the Covid-19 lockdown and the subsequent closure of the lab, we are delighted to announce a return to lab work in the ESRL once more.

ESRL staff were given the green light to return to work in the lab from Monday 29th as part of the Governments roadmap for releasing the lockdown and thanks to the concerted effort of those involved in planning for the return to work within the College.

Several new procedures have been put in place, new signage installed around the lab, and plenty of PPE made available in order to make this possible. Some of the new procedures put in place include a one-way system within the lab, a contact tracing log, restricted access to equipment, and regular disinfecting of surfaces and equipment.

Covid-19 return to lab

The next few months will be busy as we get back to work validating procedures, developing new analytical methods, performing geochemical analysis and preparing for ISO accreditation.
