Abbie Nugent
PhD Candidate
Biography
Originally from Wexford, I completed my undergraduate degree in geography at Maynooth University. During my undergraduate I became interested in physical geography and completed my undergraduate thesis looking at palaeoecology, land-use change and fluvial geomorphology in the West of Ireland. I then went on to complete an MSc in climate change at Maynooth University. My master’s thesis focused on estimating areal catchment precipitation using fluctuations in streamflow for catchments across Ireland. My research interests include hydrology, climate extremes and coastal adaptation. I am currently a PhD candidate with the coastal research group under the supervision of Professor Iris Moeller at Trinity College Dublin.

Description
I am interested in how anthropogenic influences can impact the climate and land with a specific focus on the coastal geomorphology of barrier islands. My Interests also extend to hydrology, climate extremes and coastal adaptation.Recognition
