Supervisor Prof Susan Murphy
Patrick is primarily interested in the research areas of climate justice, political ecology, and development studies. In 2017, he completed his undergraduate degree in Geography at Trinity College Dublin. He was selected as the national winner of the politics and international relations category in the 2017 Undergraduate Awards for his essay, “Governing Climate Change: A Critical Review.” During the last several years, he has been involved with various environmental organisations including Friends of the Earth, People and Planet, Stop Climate Chaos, and Not Here Not Anywhere. In 2021, he completed a MA in Environment, Society and Development at the National University of Ireland, Galway, and was selected as the winner of the Neil Smith Award for outstanding achievement within the MA programme. In 2022, Patrick returned to Trinity College Dublin to commence a PhD under the supervision of Dr. Susan Murphy. His project, titled “Climate Justice through Restorative Development”, aims to explore the opportunities and barriers to community participation, social recognition, and fair distribution of the social, economic, and ecological costs and co-benefits of offsetting through afforestation in Ireland.
