I currently hold a Teaching Professorship with the Department of Geography, School of Natural Sciences at Trinity College Dublin. I completed my Ph.D. in Humanitarian and Development Innovation at Trinity College Dublin. I founded the Humanitarian Innovation Academy at Trinity College, Dublin, during my PhD studies and piloted an experiential learning programme with the support of IrishAid for students from the University of Dar es Salaam, Tanzania and Trinity College Dublin, Ireland. I also hold PG degrees in Creative Thinking & Innovation (Trinity College), and an MSc in Architecture and Urban Planning from the TU Dortmund, Germany. I have extensive experience in programme design, coordination, teaching, and engagements with stakeholders from both the global North and South, I am is passionate about nature-based innovative climate solutions, innovation models for the development and humanitarian sector, international development and higher education, and leveraging my own experiences in these areas, as well as from industry, to enable international projects targeted at the global south, achieve their objectives. In the recent past, I have also been successful in developing grant proposals for EIT Climate KIC projects, Enterprise Ireland and the Irish Research Council. I have been successful with IRC grants at both PhD and Master levels.
My research interest lies in Humanitarian and Development innovation. This involves the study, use, and analysis of innovation models and ecosystems employed to address climate-related challenges, as well as humanitarian and development challenges. It involves the application of digital innovation, entrepreneurship, innovation management, and innovation economics within these spaces.
