Geography graduate selected as Ireland’s United Nations Youth Delegate
Oct 2018
Aisling O’Boyle, Political Science and Geography Class of 2018, was recently selected as Ireland’s Youth Delegate to the United Nations.
Each year two young people are selected to represent the young people of Ireland at the United Nations. The other delegate for 2018-2019 is Jamie Moore from Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. The UN Youth Delegate Programme is organised by the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade, Irish Aid and the National Youth Council of Ireland (NYCI) with the goal of supporting young people to be agents of change through active engagement in the United Nations.
This month Aisling joined the Irish delegation to the United Nations General Assembly. On 3rd October Aisling and Jamie addressed the Third Committee of the UN General Assembly on behalf of Ireland. They spoke about issues impacting young people including climate change, gender equality, poverty, homelessness, and youth participation in decision-making.
