RESEARCH INTEREST:
My postgraduate research is on ancient DNA from domesticated animals. The project aims to investigate the changes in population dynamics at times of artificial selection by ancient and historical herders. It is hypothesized that at times of sharp selection the variability in Y lineages will greatly decrease due to the culling and castration of most males in the livestock population. The project aims to test this hypothesis by comparing genetic variability and investigating if the reductions in variability are specific to the male lineage.
