Dr Julie Bates - Awarded a Royal Irish Academy Charlemont travel grant

Dr Julie Bates has been awarded a Royal Irish Academy Charlemont travel grant for a week-long research trip to New York in March 2016. Dr Bates will take up a residency in the Louise Bourgeois Archive based in the Chelsea townhouse the French-American artist used as her home and studio. Dr Bates will also view Bourgeois’s works held in MoMA, and will interview Deborah Wye, the Chief Curator Emeritus who curated Bourgeois’s landmark retrospective at MoMA in 1982 and is currently preparing a catalogue raisonneé of Bourgeois’s prints for MoMA’s innovative new online resource: Louise Bourgeois: The Complete Prints and Books: http://www.moma.org/explore/collection/lb/index
