Postgraduate Champion Equality Award 2017-18
Congratulations to Vivian Rath, PhD student in the School of Education who was awarded the Postgraduate Equality Champion Award 2017/18. He was recognised for his outstanding contribution to promoting equality both within and outside the university. He has been actively campaigning to improve access to employment and education opportunities for people with disabilities. His seminar on the public and political representation of people with disabilities in Ireland highlighted the barriers to participation for people with disabilities in Irish society and began a national conversation. He was recently appointed to the National Disability Stakeholders Group by the Minister for Disability. Vivian is researching the social experiences of students with disabilities in higher education under the supervision of Professor Michael Shevlin.
