Public affairs
World class universities such as Trinity don't operate in ivory towers far removed from the social, economic and political environment around them. They are an open source of creativity, innovation, entrepreneurship, ground breaking research as well as teaching and learning.
The role of the public affairs unit is to broaden understanding of the activities of the modern university. It facilitates engagement with Government, senior public servants, industry and business leaders, philanthropists, community and environmental groups, higher education institutions, other key stakeholders and decision makers at home and abroad. The overseas dimension is important because Trinity is a truly global university as evidenced year after year in international league tables.
The unit has a key role in anticipating and preparing for important policy developments in higher education and research. But it also keeps up to date with changes in other relevant policy areas such as employment and skills strategies, FDI, health, environment, social media, the cultural community, etc. all of which impact on the role of the university in modern society.
We provide insight and advice through briefings, presentations and workshops on key policy developments and trends. We prepare policy positions and responses, and deliver engagement programmes with key decision makers and influencers for the Provost and other senior university leaders.
We are readily available as a source of advice and support to all academic and professional services leaders in Trinity who wish to improve stakeholder engagement.
