150 for the course. For security reasons

College no. 1 account. A concession rate is
available to second and third level students,
unemployed persons and those in receipt of a
social welfare pension.
Date
Teaching in Hilary term commences during the
week beginning 14 January 2013. Please note
this is a day-time course.
Duration
The course runs for a total of eleven weeks in
Hilary term.

Contemporary Islamic
Movements
This course examines contemporary Islamic
social and political movements. Particular
attention is paid to: the revivalist movements
(Muslim Brotherhood, Iranian Islamic
Revolution), the reformist movement (for
example, the followers of Mahmoud Teha in
Sudan and the reformist movement in Iran), the
Sufi movement in Senegal and the Gulen
movement in Turkey, the Arab uprisings and
transnational movements (for example,
’al Qaeda).
