INTEGER- Partnership Group Meetings
March 2013
During International Women’s Week, WiSER hosted a series of meetings of the EU FP7 INTEGER project to advance gender equality in research. Events included the second annual meeting of the INTEGER Partnership Group, the second seminar Exchange of Experience Seminar, and a meeting of the Project Management Team. Involved in these meetings were speakers from America and Europe who shared their experiences and expertise in implementing action plans for gender equality in higher education and research.

Annual Partnership Group meeting, Friday 8th March 2013
This meeting brought together leading figures from the three INTEGER institutions to discuss targets of the INTEGER project. Partners discussed the progress of the project, the implementation of gender action plans and good practice examples from European and American institutions.
Speaking at the session, Dr Patrick Prendergast, Provost of Trinity College Dublin, said that Trinity College Dublin will make progress towards equality in the workplace through the INTEGER project. He stated that "targeted action" is needed to improve the situation for women in academia, and that organisational change is required to make these improvements happen. Hélène Naftalski, Chief of Staff of the President of CNRS, also reiterated the CNRS was clearly committed to equality between women and men, and considered action at European level as a priority for the institution. Professor Sergejus Rimovskis, Dean of the Faculty of Technology of the University of Siauliai, spoke about the importance of discussing these issues and identifying and addressing the problems.

Invited experts presented good practice examples developed in institutions in Europe and North America ready for collaboration with the INTEGER project. The local coordinators presented results of the data collection that was conducted in the three institutions. In smaller working groups, bringing together the various institutions and the invited speakers, team members shared their respective action plans and discussed the issues facing each institution / faculty / department / laboratory, in order to identify the best approaches.

20th January, 2012
The CNRS has hosted the first meeting of the Partnership Group of the European project INTEGER, which brings together Alain Fuchs (Chair of CNRS), Clive Williams (Dean of the Faculty of Mathematics and Science from Trinity College Dublin - Ireland) and Vidas Lauruska (Rector of the University of Siauliai - Lithuania). The day before, the CNRS also received the first of four annual seminars for sharing experiences planned in the project. The objective of the Partnership Group meeting was to present the project INTEGER leaders of the institutions involved. It outlined examples of good practices which have been implemented through action plans.
These good practices have been identified and recognised through the National Science Foundation (NSF) ADVANCE Programme (USA), the Athena SWAN charter and Award scheme (UK) and other European initiatives which have focused on Gender Action Plan implementation within research and higher education institutions.

The Seminars aim to bring together the INTEGER partners, members of the INTEGER Expert Group and Ambassadors of the project. They discussed practical initiatives implemented within European and American academic institutions which are chartered. The tools and actions identified will feed into action plans being prepared in the three institutions that are targets of the project, Trinity College Dublin, CNRS and Siauliai University.
