Professor Dr. Giedrė Purvaneckienė

Between 1994 and 2008 Dr. Purvaneckienė combined her academic career with a number of high profile political roles which included being a Member of Parliament and Adviser to the Prime Minister on Education, Scientific and Social policy. Since 2008 she has been a member of the Board of Science Council of Lithuania, and a member of the working group for drafting “The Concept of implementation of Strategy of Equal Opportunities of Women and Men in Science in Lithuania”. She led the sociological research “Women‘s careers in sciences and high technology“, conducted in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania within the framework of FP6 project “Baltic States Network: Women in Sciences and High Technology (BASNET)”, and published “Women’s careers in sciences and high technology in BASNET partner countries: Results of sociological research// Women in Sciences and High Technology in the Baltic States: Problems and Solutions. – Vilnius, 2007”.
