The College offers opportunities for staff training and development through several bodies operating within College. There are resources to help you achieve what you want to in a range of areas, just see below for details.

Do you want to…

….develop your teaching practice or academic writing skills?

  • Centre for Academic Practice & Student Learning – CAPSL
CAPSL runs courses and events for staff and students to support their personal and professional development as teachers and researchers. They offer one-to-one consultations on request and work with interest groups and teams of staff in Schools or other areas to support their professional development needs.

…attend a professional development workshop?

  • Staff Development Office
The Staff Development Office operates an annual programme of courses for all college staff. These include supervisory- and management-development, induction, and personal effectiveness as well as induction sessions for new staff.

…brush up on the latest computer software or get some IT training?

  • IS Services
IS Services provide regular courses for all college staff on IT-related topics such as making PowerPoint presentations and using statistical software, with an emphasis on gaining practical experience of the most common software packages.

…take stock of your career objectives and set future goals?

  • Performance Management Development Scheme (PMDS)
PMDS is a formal process of self evaluation for all college staff to look at work objectives and performance and assess how successful or otherwise you feel you have been. The discussion is used to identify individual contributions, provide feedback on performance and help overcome any problems so that you can develop to your full potential by identifying and meeting developmental needs.

…get advice on funding your research?

  • Trinity Research & Innovation
The Research Development Office in Trinity Research and Innovation (TRI&I) offers advice to research staff on obtaining funding for research projects, as well as advice and support for preparing research proposals. They also publish details of calls for research proposals.

  • Trinity Research Staff Association (TRSA)
