WiSER Conference

"From Surviving to Thriving: Women in Science"

WiSER held a one-day conference on Monday 22nd October 2007 in the School of Nursing, Trinity College Dublin. Drawing speakers and attendees from all over the country, from all sectors of the scientific community, the conference aimed to:

  • Stimulate debate on the underlying causes of the under-representation of women in academic science, engineering and technology (SET) in Ireland
  • Showcase successful initiatives that are having a positive impact on working environments for female scientists
  • Celebrate the talent that is present in SET and put female scientists in the spotlight
  • Create a forum for women who are working in SET to engage in an open and frank discussion about the challenges they face, and to hear the experiences of women who are thriving in science
