Corinna Salvadori Lonergan, MA (Dubl., NUI); Fellow Emeritus of Trinity College Dublin; Cav. Uff. nell'ordine al merito della Repubblica Italiana; President of AIPI, Associazione Internazionale dei Professori d'Italiano.
Associate Professor Emeritus. She lectures on Dante, Inferno, Paradiso, Convivio and Monarchia; Italian Renaissance Comedy; Ariosto, Castiglione, Lorenzo de' Medici and Michelangelo. She contributes to the Master's course in Medieval Studies, and to the one in Literary Translation.
Main areas of interest : Medieval and Renaissance Italian Studies. Comparative literature (English/Italian).Principal publications: she has published mostly in the Renaissance area, including Yeats and Castiglione (1965) and Lorenzo de' Medici: Selected Writings (ed.), 1992). David Best
Fixed-Term Lecturer [2008/2009]
Research and teaching: David Best's PhD, supported by an IRCHSS Government of Ireland postgraduate research scholarship, was on representations of rurality in twentieth century central Italian literature. He has lectured at University College Cork and at the University of St Andrews. Postdoctoral Fellow
Dr Enrica Ferrara joined the Italian Department in October 2008 as a Postdoctoral Fellow holding a two-year award from the Irish Research Council for the Humanities and Social Sciences. Her research is on modern Italian literary history, including the relationship between theatre and narrative. Recent publications include a monograph, Calvino e il teatro: Storia di una passione rimossa (Oxford: Peter Lang, 2011), Italian Modernities series, Volume 11. The Italian Department currently has three Research Associates:
Professor Rosangela Barone, who has published widely on Irish literature and is a translator of Irish writers (including those writing in Gaelic) into Italian
Dr Clare Guest, whose research interests include the role of ornament in the later Renaissance, Italian Renaissance works on poetics in the early printed collections of Trinity College Library, and works on Roman antiquities printed from the 15th century to 1789 and held in Dublin libraries.
