(i) The definition of disability applied by the College is the legal definition outlined in the Equal Status Act 2000.
(ii) Wherever possible, students with a disability should undertake the same assessments as other students following the same course of study. However, if a student is unable, through disability, to be assessed by the usual methods prescribed for his or her course of study, the Senior Lecturer may vary the method in consultation with the Director(s) of Teaching and Learning (Undergraduate) concerned and, as appropriate, with the Disability Service, bearing in mind the objectives of the course and the need to assess the student on equal terms with other students.
(iii) The onus lies on the individual student to ensure that the College is informed of the nature of his or her disability, and to apply for any variation in assessment or examination conditions which he or she may wish to claim. Students wishing to submit a claim for special assessment conditions must do so in accordance with any procedures laid down by the University and before the expiry of any deadlines which may be established for this purpose. Any such claim must also be supported by acceptable corroborative documentation.
