Full Time Student Equivalent Data
Annual calculation and collation of Full-Time Student Equivalent (FTSE) data
Procedure for calculation and collation of FTSE data
The Student Records Office circulates the student data and appropriate background class lists to the Vice-Provost's Office and the Schools/Disciplines for the year in question 1
Using the data from the Student Records Office and the teaching input of Schools and Disciplines to the courses as entered into the timetable, the Vice Provost's Office calculates the FTSE's for each course year and the distribution of the FTSE's between the Schools/Disciplines involved in teaching that course year.
The student data and FTSE distribution are then entered by Vice Provost Office into a database. This provides detailed reports on the inputted FTSE data, showing student numbers for each course year, the FTE weighting applied and the allocations to each School/Discipline. The database is then checked, amended and signed off by the School Administrators who return summary information for inclusion in the annual report.
The Vice Provost ’s Office reconciles completed data against the registered student numbers data as provided to the HEA and confirms sign-off on the final data with School Administrators.
Reports regarding FTSE data are then released to the Treasurer’s Office by the Vice Provost ’s Office for input into the ARAM model.
- As noted above, this process was undertaken by Faculty Administrators under the former structure. Under new structures as of 2005-06 School Administrators will be responsible for calculating and returning FTSEs. In this description, all references to School Administrators apply to Faculty Admin istrators prior to 2005-06.
