5A | Museum Building: A Mythical Beast, and a gem in an attic

NOTE : Two tracks for stop 5

The great Irish elk is nothing of the sort! It's not Irish, and it isn't an elk. Rather, this wonderful extinct creature should be called the giant deer. Step into the stunning museum building, and admire the stonework and architecture, and inspect the fossil skeletons in the foyer. And if time allows, visit the delightful geology museum in the attic 1 (open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm; groups by appointment with the curator at wysjcknp@tcd.ie).
