Fighting Spirits
Monday, 15 May 2017, 6:30 – 8pm
A public lecture by Dr Lauren Arrington (University of Liverpool) during her fellowship at the Trinity Long Room Hub in collaboration with the School of English.
Abstract: From 1928, W.B. Yeats was a seasonal resident of Rapallo, Italy, where he lived and worked alongside Ezra Pound. Pound had moved to Italy in 1924, believing that Mussolini's government would create the right conditions for writers and artists.
In "Fighting Spirits" Lauren Arrington will talk about how Italian fascism and Yeats's collaborations with Pound shaped his writing about the Irish revolution.
