Voluntary

Households are selected at random to participate in this study. Participation is voluntary, but it is important that all of the people who are chosen take part so that our results give a clear and correct picture of people’s lives. During Wave 1 of the study, the selected households were visited by an interviewer from Ipsos MORI and all persons aged 50 or over (and their spouses/partners of any age) were canvassed to take part in the survey. Over 8,500 participants took part in Wave 1.

Participants are free to withdraw at any time from the study without giving us a reason. They are also welcome to discuss any concerns they might have with us.
