Why Trinity
The University of Dublin was founded in 1592 and is the oldest university in Ireland. Trinity College was recently ranked the 53rd in the world by the Irish Times Education Supplement League Tables.
Library
Students at Trinity have access to the resources of Ireland's largest research library and one of the great libraries of the world. The Library's collections number about 4,200,000 volumes and over 20,000 periodical titles are currently received. In recent years the Library has begun to provide access to a large array of electronic resources. Students can now gain access to much information and many titles from anywhere in College.
Sports Centre
Recreation plays an important part of college life. Our newly opened Sports Centre offers state of the art sports facilities, including a climbing wall, 25m swimming pool and fitness theatre.
Computer Facilities
The Trinity College network is one of the largest and most complex in the country with €5 million invested in it. College has now introduced wireless networks in a number of areas where students congregate. Areas such as the Libraries and the Arts Coffee Area now have wireless networking.Personal computers can also be connected to the college network both in student accommodation and in various locations in the college.
Accommodation
College accommodation is available both on campus, and off campus in Trinity Hall, Dartry, a short distance from the city centre. First year students are mostly accommodated in Trinity Hall, and you can apply for a place online as soon as you have accepted a place in Trinity.
Clubs and Societies
There is a wide range of activities to suit everyone in Trinity. The TCD Life website provides a good insight into how students can become involved in the many clubs and societies on offer. There are currently nearly 100 student socieities and 50 sports clubs in the college.
