Prospective Students

This is a joint programme taught by the Department of Sociology and the Department of Social Studies. It combines the study of social theory, social policy and social research. It is particularly relevant to those wishing to pursue a career in management, planning and evaluation within the social services field, as well as to those with a general interest in society and social policy.

Careers

The range of employment opportunities in the area of social and public policy, planning and implementation is expanding all the time.

Sociology and Social Policy is a particularly relevant degree for those interested in pursuing a career in the formulation of policy in the public service, community development and voluntary/non-profit sectors. The course provides a solid foundation for specialist postgraduate courses, including in the areas of social work and social research.
