School of Social Sciences and Philosophy Students Win Undergraduate Awards

25 September 2012

The School of Social Sciences and Philosophy is delighted to congratulate its two winners in this year's Undergraduate Awards: Eleanor Friel in International Relations and Politics and Huw Duffy in Philosophical Studies and Theology. Congratulations also go to ten students in the Highly Commended category:

Business and Economics:

  • Jack Irwin

International Relations and Politics:

  • Stephanie Kelly
  • Sam Mealy
  • Conor O'Neill
  • Daniel Jerome Reilly

Philosophical Studies and Theology:

  • David Boylan
  • Yui Fujita
  • Fintan Mallory

Social Studies:

  • Eleanor Friel
  • Elin Haettner
  • Robyn Kelly

A Highly Commended in Social Studies also went to former Trinity student Fay Niker, now at the University of Oxford.

The School's winners are half of those among Trinity students in the 21 sections this year. Worthy of note are Eleanor Friel's two citations in different sections, and the fact that the award in Philosophical Studies and Theology goes to a Trinity student for the fourth successive year. The winners will receive their awards from President Michael D. Higgins at a ceremony in Royal Hospital Kilmainham on November 9th. This will be the highlight of the UA Summit, which takes place from 7-10 November and brings together academics, entrepreneurs and students.
