Dr Marie de Montfort Supple

Retired Staff Member

Dr. Marie de Montfort Supple qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist (SLT) in 1959 in the UK. She returned to Ireland and set up a clinical service for children and adults.

In 1969 she set up an education programme for SLTs in Dublin in association with the UK professional body. In 1979 she negotiated the transfer of the course to Trinity College, University of Dublin. She held the post of Director of the course until 1994 when she became Vice Dean of the Faculty of Health Sciences. In 1998 she retired but continued for several years with clinical supervision of students, supervision and examination of theses and occasional lectures.

During the course of her career her main areas of interest have been Child Language Disability and Dyslexia. She has lectured on these topics in a number of countries including the USA, UK, Malta, Cairo, Jordan, Sweden and Czech Republic. She has been involved as external examiners and/or advisor for programmes in SLT in the UK, Malta and Jordan.
