ITUT - An tIonad do Theicneolaíocht Urlabhra agus Teangeolaíochta na Gaeilge: Centre for Speech and Language Technology for Irish
Aidhm Aim
Seo lárionad taighde atá dírithe ar fhorbairt na teicneolaíochta urlabhra agus teangeolaíochta don Ghaeilge. Tá an fhorbairt teicneolaíochta seo bunaithe ar dhúshraith taighde teangeolaíochta atá ar siúl sa Scoil ar struchtúr na Gaeilge, ar theagasc na Gaeilge, ar bhailiúchán agus ar phróiseáil corpais. Mar chroílár na hoibre, tá bunú acmhainní urlabhra agus teangeolaíochta don Ghaeilge. Mar aschur breise as an obair, táimid ag díriú ar fheidhmchláir a thacóidh le pobal na Gaeilge - le foghlaimeoirí agus le lucht teagaisc na Gaeilge, agus leo siúd atá faoi mhíchumas radhairc nó urlabhra.
Tugann an tIonad seo taighdeoirí as réimsí ilghnéitheacha le chéile agus tá foireann a dhíríonn go speisialta ar ghnéithe teicneolaíochta urlabhra agus ar fhoghraíocht na Gaeilge lonnaithe sa Saotharlann Foghraíochta agus Urlabhra.

Aim
This research centre focuses on developing Speech and Language Technology for Irish. This technology development is underpinned by the fundamental linguistic research which is carried out in the School; on the structure of Irish, on the teaching of Irish, and on collecting and processing of corpora. Central to the work is the establishment of speech linguistic resources for Irish. As additional outputs of this work, we are focussing on applications which will support the Irish-speaking community, as well as learners and teachers of Irish and those Irish speakers with sight or speech disabilities
This Centre brings together researchers from many disciplines, and a team which specifically focuses on technical aspects of speech and phonetics is based in the Phonetics and Speech Laboratory
