    • Analysis of SABR data
  • Summary
    • SABR (Stereotactic Ablative Radiotherapy) is a radiotherapy technique that uses specialist equipment to precisely target radiotherapy to treat certain cancers. SABR uses smaller thinner beams of radiation than standard radiotherapy. The tumour itself receives a high radiation dose while each of the individual beams travels through the surrounding health tissue which therefore gets a much lower dose. SABR is given with typically 3-5 treatment sessions. The high precision necessary for accurate treatment means that the exact position of the tumour needs to be carefully monitored before, during and after treatment. This is done using an infra-red marker system placed on the patient's body which is tracked by an infrared camera which shows exactly how the patient is breathing. There are several different scans and breathing traces taken before, during and after the treatment process. This study will analyse the breathing traces and images to determine if any improvements can be made to the SABR process and how the variation in breathing patterns may affect the treatment.
