Biography

Matthias John a research fellow in the CONNECT research centre for Future Networks. He received the Dipl. Inf. degree in computer science from the Deutsche Telekom University of Applied Science, Leipzig, Germany, in 2004 and the Ph.D. in microwave antenna engineering from the Dublin Institute of Technology, Dublin, Ireland in 2008. He has worked on on subjects including Ultra Wideband Antennas, Evolutionary Optimization Techniques and Antenna Miniaturization. He is currently working on small, reconfigurable antennas for IoT and M2M embedded devices. Focusing on installed performance and efficiency. He is also working on RFID antennas for ticketing/access systems and contactless payment cards and readers. His research interests include UWB antennas, efficient numerical optimization techniques, antenna miniaturization, RFID and imaging applications.
