  • Title
    • An exploratory RCT of a manualised nurse-led telephone support intervention for people who support/carers of People with Multiple Sclerosis.
  • Summary
    • This is an intervention study with 200 carers randomly assigned to one of two groups: the intervention or control group. Using a manual designed to enable the nurse specialist to provide proactive telephone support, the nurse specialist(s) will empower carers by enabling them to learn problem management skills. Carer outcomes are determined in terms of improving self-efficacy in problem solving and obtaining respite, preparedness to care, quality of life and reduced carer burden. For PwMS outcomes are determined by exploring their experience of being cared for by a carer who has received telephone support from the multiple sclerosis nurse specialist.
