Description

I have done research on, and software development for, codon usage analysis. Copies of CODONS 1.4 are available for PCs and Unix. Other published research interests include: 1. A study of strand bias (G/C skew) in spirochaetes which will have implications for the design of genomic DNA gene discovery algorithms. 2. The first second-pass bioinformatic analysis of the first completely sequenced eukaryotic chromosome ( Yeast Chromosome III Genbank:x59720 ) 3. Prokaryotic molecular phylogenetics. The phylogenetic tree derived from the recA protein, for example closely agrees with the far larger tree drawn from structural RNAs. 4. Determination of patterns of tissue expression in the human and mouse genomes. 5. Genomics of the innate immune response and antimicrobial peptides in chicken, mouse and human.
