About Us
The Policy Institute was officially opened by the Tanaiste in 1998 to provide an independent source of public policy research, innovation, advice and evaluation in Ireland.
Based in the School of Social Sciences and Philosophy at Trinity College, the Institute aims to build on the intellectual resources of the Irish university system and to make a real difference to the public policy process in Ireland.
The Institute has delivered a range of public events, hosted visiting scholars and published over 25 studies in public policy.
The Institute continues to facilitate interaction between the academic and wider policy community through:
-
Public lectures and policy seminars which aim to make social science discussion and research available to the policy arena.
-
Studies in Public Policy or "Blue Papers” which provide an authoritative and critical independent source of public policy evaluation.
