Visiting & Erasmus Students


Congratulations on your acceptance to Trinity College Dublin as a Visiting Student, an Exchange Student or as an Erasmus Student We are delighted to welcome you to Trinity and we hope that you will have an exciting and enriching educational experience here with us.
Orientation introduces you to life at Trinity and is key to facilitating a smooth transition and to preparing you to get the most from your year or semester. You will have two orientation meetings, a welcome reception, a campus tour and much more. Non-EU students will also have a visa/immigration information session and further information on all of these meetings will be included in your Freshers’ Week Programme which will be sent to you in early September.
Finally, we would very much encourage you to come and see us in the Academic Registry when you arrive. The Academic Registry is open Monday to Friday, between 09.30 am and 17.30 pm. We would be very happy to meet you and answer any questions you may have!

Monday 16th September


ORIENTATION 1   :  For Erasmus and EU Visiting students only


11.30 to 13.00             Edmund Burke Theatre (Arts Building)  Monday 16 September
This General Orientation meeting introduces you to the university facilities and the services available to you as a student of the university, and many other topics.


ORIENTATION 1:  For Non-EU Visiting students only


15.15 to 16.30 :           McNeill Lecture Theatre (Hamilton Building) Monday 16 September
This General Orientation meeting introduces you to the university facilities and the services available to you as a student of the university, and many other topics.


Visa / Immigration Information Session  : for Non-EU international students


14.00 to 14.30:            Synge Theatre, (Arts Building) Monday 16 September
Guidance is provided relating to some of the additional tasks Non-EU students face on arrival such as registration with the Garda National Immigration Bureau (GNIB), opening a bank account etc.

 

Tuesday 17th September


12.00 to 13.00: Sports Centre Tour:   For Erasmus and Visiting Students. Meet at the Lobby of the Sports Centre

ORIENTATION 2: For Erasmus, EU and Non EU Visiting students, and Non-EU full degree new entrants


14.00 to 15.15 : Edmund Burke Theatre, Emmet Theatre, Synge Theatre, and Davis Theatre, Arts Building.

These theatres are all located on the ground and lower ground floor of the Arts Building.
(students will be allocated to the lecture theatres alphabetically by family name. International Admissions and Study Abroad will send details to each student)
In this culture Orientation session we discuss cross-cultural adjustment, settling into life in Trinity College and Dublin and many other topics.

15.15 to 17.00 Meet your Mentors (Student2Student)  For Erasmus and Visiting Students
multiple venues in Arts Building.  S2S Mentors will collect you at the lecture theatres  where you attend the Culture Orientation 2 –see above. Tuesday 17 September)
You will be introduced to your S2S Peer Mentors and have the opportunity to ask questions. 
The meeting will include a Library Tour and a Tour of Campus. 

 

Histories and Humanities Module Registration for Visiting Students

For visiting students wishing to sign up for courses in the Departments of History, Classics and History of Art, please see module registration information below:

EU and Non EU Visiting students (i.e. non-Erasmus): Wednesday 18th September between 2.00 and 4.30 p.m. in the Classics Seminar Room (6th floor, Arts Building).
We will begin at 2.00 p.m. with a few short talks about the School, the Departments (History, Classics and History of Art) and the courses on offer.

Erasmus Students only: Wednesday 18th September between 4.30 and 6.00 p.m. in the Classics Seminar Room.
We will begin at 4.30 p.m. with a few short talks about the School, the Departments (History, Classics and History of Art) and the courses on offer.

DEPARTMENT MEETINGS for ERASMUS/VISITING STUDENTS


Please find below details of the schools/departments that will hold meeting for incoming ERAMUS AND VISITING STUDENTS during Fresher’s week.  All other students should go to the department(s) into which they have been accepted and the Secretary/Executive Officer will be able to advise which academic staff member you should meet.


Law
An information session and coffee morning will be held in the Law School, House 39 on
Tuesday 17th September at 10am – 10.45am.

English
An information session for Erasmus/Visiting Students will take place on
Tuesday 17th September in the Thomas Davis Theatre (ground floor) Arts Building at 11.00am.

Drama/Film
An orientation meeting for Erasmus/Visiting students will take place on
Wednesday, 18th September at 3pm in the Drama Foyer.

Histories and Humanities (Classics, History, History of Art & Architecture, Gender & Women’s studies)
Erasmus/Visiting students taking modules with the School of Histories and Humanities need to attend the information sessions below;
EU & Non-EU Visiting Students (i.e. non-Erasmus): Wednesday 18th September 2pm - 4.30pm  
Classics Seminar Room, 6th Floor, Arts Building.
Erasmus Students: Wednesday 18th September 4.30-6pm           
Classics Seminar Room, 6th Floor, Arts Building.

Computer Science
Erasmus/Visiting students taking modules within the School of Computer Science should attend the information session on Wednesday 18th September in the LCR (Large Conference Room), O’Reilly Institute at 2.00pm.

Business, Economics, Sociology, Political Science and Philosophy
Erasmus/Visiting students taking modules within the above departments should attend the welcome meeting on Thursday 19th September at 6pm in the Swift Theatre, Arts Building.

Psychology
Erasmus/Visiting students should go to the School of Psychology on Thursday 19th September from 10.30am to meet with the Erasmus coordinator in Room 1.04,  Áras An Phiarsaigh (AAP) building. After you have finalised your modules, copies of your module registration form should be handed to Ms. June Carpenter in Psychology, the original document must be handed to the Academic Registry.
