Orientation Week Checklist

General Orientation Check List:

  • Log on, pay tuition fees and College charges on my.tcd.ie
  • Register online
  • Collect your ID card
  • Activate your email account
  • Locate your School/Course Office (refer to College Map)
  • Locate the College Health Centre (refer to College Map)
  • Locate the Student Counseling Service (refer to College Map)
  • Locate House 6 for Student Union, Graduate Student Union and Central Societies Committee offices
  • Join a club or society.
  • Identify the computer facilities around campus
  • Buy print-and-photocopy cards from House 6 (SU shop)
  • Get a locker if required (See FAQs)

Additional Checklist for Undergraduate Students

  • Attend your orientation meetings in Freshers' Week (See Essential Information)
  • Print out your course timetable for the first term
  • Find your tutor (my.tcd.ie)
  • Check out events the Students ’ Union have organised during Fresher’s Week. (www.tcdsu.org)
  • Complete general orientation checklist (see above).

Additional Checklist for Postgraduate Students

  • Attend the Graduate Studies Office orientation.
  • Attend the Postgraduate International Orientation meeting.  Postgraduate international students should attend BOTH orientations.
  • Attend your Course/Research Induction.  (Please note that students will be notified by the School/Department.  Not all courses/research areas will have inductions)
  • Check out events organised by the Graduate Students’ Union.  
  • Complete general orientation checklist (see above).

Additional Checklist for International Students

  • Read your pre-arrival orientation pack
  • Attend your orientation meeting (see personalised timetable on website)
  • Attend culture orientation meeting (see personalise timetable on website)
  • Attend practical information session for non-EU students (UG, Visiting and Erasmus students only)
  • Find accommodation
  • Open an Irish Bank account
  • Obtain all documents necessary to register with Garda National Immigration Bureau
  • Meet with your Department, Supervisor, Tutor and/or Erasmus Coordinator
  • Get your Module Registration Form signed by your receiving Department (Visiting and Erasmus students only).
  • Attend any meetings that your department(s) may have arranged. Information is available from the International notice board (Erasmus and Visiting students only).
  • Complete general orientation checklist (see above).
